Event raises funds and awareness for IP campaign

To raise awareness and support for Riverkeeper’s campaign to close the Indian Point nuclear power plant, Joan Hornig and Riverkeeper board member George Hornig hosted a discussion and fundraiser for the campaign at their New York City home on Oct. 13. More than 100 people attended the event.

Riverkeeper’s presence in Kingston was celebrated recently with a welcome party hosted by the Lower Esopus Watershed Partnership (LEWP) and the Hudson River Maritime Museum (HRMM). Since this past May, Riverkeeper has maintained a part-time office housed inside the HRMM in Kingston's historic Rondout District.

On behalf of myself and Riverkeeper, we’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the 22 dedicated Riverkeeper supporters who rode over 42 miles on Sunday, May 1, in the 2011 TD Bank Five Boro Bike Tour in support of Riverkeeper. This bike race is the largest recreational cycling event in America, where 32,000 cyclists took on a 42 mile car-free ride through New York City and conquered it!
