Entero Count

Enterococcus (“Entero”) is a fecal indicating bacterium that lives in the intestines of humans and other warm-blooded animals. It is the EPA preferred indicator for sewage contamination.

About this location:

Less than a mile upstream of the Wallkill River's confluence with Rondout Creek, this is the lowermost sampling site on the Wallkill. This site is located in a forested area just downstream of the Sturgeon Pool hydroelectric dam.
