Enterococcus (“Entero”) is a fecal indicating bacterium that lives in the intestines of humans and other warm-blooded animals. It is the EPA preferred indicator for sewage contamination.

About this location:

This site is located in a commercial strip where Sparkill Creek parallels the New York-New Jersey state line. There is a wooded buffer that forms a narrow strip on the New Jersey side of the Creek, but is considerably wider on the New York side.
