Entero Count

Enterococcus (“Entero”) is a fecal indicating bacterium that lives in the intestines of humans and other warm-blooded animals. It is the EPA preferred indicator for sewage contamination.

About this location:

This sample is collected just downstream of the Bingham Mills Dam, which is the first dam on the main stem of Roe Jan upstream of the Hudson River confluence. These samples are collected by Roe Jan watershed residents and processed by the Bard Water Lab. Site photo credit: Kaare Christian.
