Enterococcus (“Entero”) is a fecal indicating bacterium that lives in the intestines of humans and other warm-blooded animals. It is the EPA preferred indicator for sewage contamination.

About this location:

This site in the Sparkill?s headwaters drains the north side of Clausland Mountain. The sampling point is located downstream of a small residential development located between Blauvelt State Park and Tackamack Town Park. The area around the residential development is buffered by forest.
